The KC Northland Fly Fishers
were established in the late 1990’s in Kansas City MO to provide the northland with its only fly fishing
club. We are a member of the Southern Council of the Federation of Fly Fishers an
international organization of over 200 clubs.
All of our members bring to the table a wide array of talent
and experience that we share with each other. That includes not only what lakes
and streams conditions and the hot flies are, but fly tying, rod building, equipment
information, boat building (yes one of our members built his own drift boat) and
the fellowship that like minded individuals bring to each other.
We are also conservationist and good stewards
of the land, streams, lakes and the life they support. We gather two times a year
at Guy B. Park and Tobacco Hill Lake to pick up the trash.
Charles F. Orvis wrote “More than half the intense
enjoyment of fly-fishing is derived from the beautiful surroundings, the satisfaction
felt from being in the open air, the new lease of life secured thereby, and the
many, many pleasant recollections of all one has seen, heard and done.”
